A continuity checker tells you a cable is connected. A certifier tells you it will still carry what you paid for in five years.

Every copper run we install is certified, not sampled. That means wire map, length, insertion loss, near-end crosstalk and return loss measured against the TIA standard for its category — Cat6 or Cat6A, depending on what the space needs to carry. A run either passes or gets corrected and retested. There is no third outcome.

You keep the results. Alongside them you get a labeling scheme that matches at both ends, a patch panel that reads like a map of the floor, and closet photos taken before the doors close. It sounds like paperwork until the first fault, when it turns a morning of tracing cable into a two-minute lookup — for us, for your IT team, or for whoever comes after us.

Cabling outlives the equipment plugged into it. Switches get replaced, access points get replaced, phones get replaced. The cable in the walls stays, which is why it is worth specifying for the building rather than for this year’s hardware.

Before the walkthrough

The questions that come up on almost every first call.

Cat6 or Cat6A — which does our space need?

Cat6 carries 1 Gigabit across a full run and 10 Gigabit over shorter distances. Cat6A carries 10 Gigabit across the whole 100-metre channel and shields better against crosstalk, which matters in dense bundles and around modern access points. The right answer depends on what the space has to support in five years, not just today — it gets specified during the walkthrough, before anything is ordered.

Can you cable a space that's still occupied?

Yes. Occupied build-outs are normal work — the job gets sequenced around you, floor by floor or zone by zone, with ceiling and riser access planned so desks stay usable. Tell us the constraint at the walkthrough, whether that's after-hours access, a trading floor that can't go dark, or a landlord's rules on riser work.

What does "tested and certified" actually mean?

Every run is tested with a cable certifier, not just a continuity checker. That measures wire map, length, insertion loss, near-end crosstalk and return loss against the TIA standard for its category, and each run either passes or gets fixed and retested. You keep the results — so if a drop misbehaves in two years, there's a baseline to compare against.

How long does an office build-out take?

It's driven by drop count, ceiling and riser access, whether the space is occupied, and how much of it is new construction versus retrofit. A small suite and a multi-floor build-out are different jobs. The walkthrough is where that turns into a real schedule rather than a guess.

Do you handle the rack and equipment, or only the cabling?

Both. Structured cabling, network racks, patch panels, equipment installation and network optimisation are one scope — which is the point. When the cabling, the rack and the gear are separate vendors, every fault becomes an argument about whose fault it is.

Can you connect a second building on the same property?

Yes, two ways. Where trenching is practical, underground cable or fiber is hard to beat. Where a driveway, parking lot or property line makes digging impractical, a point-to-point wireless bridge links the buildings instead — a dedicated radio link at each end, mounted, aligned and speed-tested.
